Summer 2 – Year 3
A huge welcome back and after our Platinum Jubilee half term break! We hope that you all had a fabulous time spending time with your loved ones and didn’t eat too much trifle! This Summer term is going to be full of excitement, rich outside learning opportunities and practical activities.
Our topic this term is called ‘How does your garden grow’ so this will give you huge clues about what the theme will be about. It will involve lots of cross curriculum experiences, especially in our English, Science, Geography and DT lessons. The children will find out about different plants and in preparation for this topic, our outside learning area has lots of wildflowers and sunflowers growing nicely. They will learn about plant from around the world and get to research greenhouse and in DT create one as part of a team. In English our focus text is ‘The Enchanted Wood’ and the children will write their own fictional story based on this story. In PSHE the focus continues to be on ‘Living in the real world’ and, the financial aspects including looking at the differences between wanting and needing something.
To continue with the history topic from last term and learning outside the classroom, the children will go to Chester and visit the Grosvenor Museum and find out more about the Romans and even participate in ‘Formation’ training…. Exciting times!
I am so looking forward to everything we will be exploring this half term but please check out the weekly newsletter for information about them, as well as other things we will get involved in too… such as Sparkle day, Sports Day and a poetry workshop.
