Spring Term
A huge welcome back and the happiest of New Year! We hope that you all had a fabulous Christmas and enjoyed spending time with your loved ones and making magical memories! This Spring term is going to be full of excitement, rich learning opportunities and practical activities.
During the first half term our topic is called ‘Rock and Roll’ which will involve lots of cross curriculum experiences. The children will be learning all about the Stone Age during our History lesson. They will find out what it was like to live during that historical era including investigating what they ate, where they lived, what they wore amongst many other aspects. In Art they may also try their hand at creating their own cave drawing. The main text we will be reading in English will be ‘Stig of the Dump’ where the children will follow the adventures of Barney when he meets a new friend called Stig! We will enjoy some writing experiences as well as guided reding. In science the children will get their hands dirty by touching different rock types and understanding where they came from and how they were created. Our theme for PSHE is relationships so we will be looking what makes a healthy relationship and how to understand what you need to do, to maintain positive relationships both in school and out in the community. We will be continuing with our swimming lesson and during our PE lessons will be participating gymnastics.
I am so looking forward to all the exciting topics we will be exploring this half term but please check out the weekly newsletter for information about them as well as other things we will get involved in.
