2024 The Year of Connecting and Flourishing
2025 The Year of Embracing and Transforming
Each month we encourage our children to be 'Agents of Jesus', making a sustainable change to our schools and community, encouraging them to live out God's purpose for us all.
As part of our Celebration Worship on Fridays we award certificates to children who have been seen to be 'Agents of Jesus' during the week with a focus on that month's theme.
The 'Agents of Jesus' Calendar
January
Agents of 'Kindness'
From a Christian perspective, kindness is a selfless act of compassion and mercy that should be shown to everyone. It can be demonstrated through everyday actions, such as being friendly, helping others, and being a good listener.
February
Agents of 'Love'
From a Christian perspective, love is best understood as God's unconditional love (agape), which is expressed through selfless actions and is rooted in sacrifice. It involves being patient, kind, protective, and nourishing, both physically and spiritually. Key biblical principles for this kind of love include showing love to others as God has shown love to us, loving God wholeheartedly, and demonstrating love through actions, not just words.
March
Agents of 'Forgiveness'
From a Christian perspective, forgiveness involves understanding that God forgives us, so they should extend that same forgiveness to others, even when it's difficult. It means letting go of anger, like a burden, and choosing to love as God loves. Key concepts include teaching children to see another's perspective, that forgiveness is a choice that helps heal their own hearts, and the importance of modelling this behaviour.
April
Agents of 'Hope'
From a Christian perspective, hope is rooted in trusting in Jesus Christ and His promises, leading to confident expectation for the future and eternal life. It is not mere wishful thinking, but a secure hope based on God's character and love, which can be taught through sharing biblical stories like the Parable of the Mustard Seed, discussing how Jesus is the "hope of the world," and helping children process feelings in a safe space where they feel loved and supported.
May
Agents of 'Courage'
From a Christian perspective, courage is the ability to face fear with God's help, knowing He is always with them. It means being brave enough to stand up for what is right, even when scared, and trusting God to give them strength to overcome challenges. This can be shown through daily acts of kindness, speaking up for others, or facing new situations with faith, like starting a new school or making friends.
June
Agents of 'Compassion'
We believe the Bible teaches that God is a God of compassion. God feels the suffering of people. God’s compassion is expressed in his mercy, his kindness, patience, grace, forgiveness, and love’. We believe we are called to be compassionate people. This compassion encompasses both a gut level feeling of sympathy and conviction as well as positive action taken on our part to relieve the suffering we observe.
July
Agents of 'Friendship'
From a Christian perspective, friendship is about building relationships based on love, loyalty, and mutual encouragement, mirroring the example of Jesus who is a friend to all. This means encouraging children to be good friends by putting others first, showing kindness, and being supportive, while also helping them to choose friends wisely and understand that true friendship is a gift to be treasured and built on trust over time.
August
Agents of 'Service'
Service from a Christian perspective involves active worship and serving others as an expression of faith. This can be done through age-appropriate worship and as well as through practical acts of service like helping family, showing kindness to others, and praying for them. The ultimate goal is to help children follow Jesus' example of love and humility by seeing service to others as service to God.
September
Agents of 'Respect'
The nature of God as revealed in the Bible, presents all people with a choice. Those whose response is one of respect are acknowledging God’s greatness, authority and involvement in the world. This will extend to respect for the created order, including humanity made in the image of God.
October
Agents of 'Justice'
God’s heart for justice and vision of human flourishing are plain to see throughout the whole Biblical narrative. In the instructions God gives to his people in the book of Leviticus it is evident that God wants all of his people to flourish – the weak, poor, disadvantaged, vulnerable, widowed, orphaned, the fatherless and the foreigner are all specifically mentioned. God encourages us to work for justice in all ways that we can.
November
Agents of 'Peace'
From a Christian perspective, peace is not just the absence of conflict, but a deep sense of inner calm and trust in God that comes from a relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It's about having a peaceful heart and mind even in difficult times because God is in control and promises to be with us. This also means being a "peacemaker" by choosing to be kind, forgiving, and just in our own relationships.
December
Agents of 'Joy'
From a Christian perspective, joy is a deep and lasting feeling from God that is different from temporary happiness. It comes from knowing God's love, trusting His promises, and finding strength in Him, even during difficult times. Children can learn to have this joy by praying, reading the Bible, and spending time with other Christians.
