Design and Technology Subject Statement of Intent

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which

God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

At All Saints Hesketh-with-Becconsall, we believe that children within our school are God's workmanship, already equipped with skills, abilities, creativity and imagination. Our Design Technology curriculum is designed to teach and allow space for each child to grow and develop in these areas.

Our Design Technology curriculum aims to encourage children to develop technical knowledge and a high level of skills in designing, making and evaluating, through a variety of creative and practical experiences.

We believe that Design Technology is important to help our children become creative problem solvers and innovative risk-takers both individually and as part of a team. Our intent is to help our children become life-long learners that can contribute to the creativity, culture, wealth and well-being of the modern world and workplace.

Design Technology is taught by teachers and on occasion by the Higher-Level Teaching Assistants following the specifically designed projects on our Cornerstones Curriculum.

These Design Technology lessons deliver the requirements of the EYFS 2022 Curriculum and the National Curriculum 2014.
