Early Years Foundation Stage : Little Saints & Reception

In Early Years at Hesketh-with-Becconsall All Saints, we know that we guide your child through the important first steps of their educational journey. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum providing children with high quality teaching as well as a safe and nurturing environment which enables them to explore, develop and learn through purposeful and engaging experiences. 

Some of our children begin their learning journey in Little Saints, our on-site nursery which provides children with varied opportunities to learn through practical, hands-on experiences indoors and outdoors, supporting them to develop the knowledge, skills and independence needed as they begin school. 

Children at Hesketh-with-Becconsall All Saints and Little Saints Nursery settle quickly and develop positive relationships within our enabling environment. They become increasingly confident and independent as they learn to share, take turns, play cooperatively and develop resilience. Children enjoy learning through play by exploring and investigating new experiences while also revisiting and practising skills they have already developed allowing them to thrive! We recognise the importance of play in supporting children’s physical, emotional, social and intellectual development.

Our indoor and outdoor learning environments have been thoughtfully created to support every aspect of a child’s development whether they join us in Little Saints or in Reception. Children are encouraged to explore, make choices, develop their independence and learn to play and work together with others. Adults support and extend children’s learning through meaningful interactions providing those strong foundations for their future learning.  Our nurturing environment is adapted regularly to reflect the needs of all children ensuring they are supported and challenged as they grow and thrive.

We believe that children thrive when home and school work closely together. Parents and carers are valued as important partners in their child’s learning and development, and we welcome and encourage families to be involved in their child’s school journey. Through regular communication, shared learning and open door opportunities, we aim to keep families involved and provide support that can be continued at home. We are always happy to listen, share ideas and work together to ensure that every child is valued as a unique individual and supported to achieve their potential, remembering that we are all God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.
