History Statement of Intent

Hesketh-with-Becconsall All Saints encourages all pupils to develop a greater understanding of the past, whilst recognising how this information can be used to contribute to our future. Our high-quality Cornerstones Curriculum provides pupils with a chronological timeline of significant events of the past, whilst fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and empathy. Children are provided with opportunities to ask questions, seek answers independently through historical enquiry, and have a broad understanding of the context in which significant events have occurred. Puupils develop a multitude of transferrable skills, including source analysis, evidence evaluation, and communication through justification of their opinions.
