VE Day celebrations
On 8 May 1945, Prime Minister Winston Churchill announced that the war in Europe had come to an end, following Germany's surrender the day before. This became known as VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day, and it is commemorated every year on 8 May. 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the original VE Day.
To mark VE Day Year 4 enjoyed a picnic lunch outside with the rest of the school. They are also attended an assembly lead by Mrs Ainsworth to launch the day. During the day we made newspaper hats, created bunting for our classroom and wrote poems.
